Our Team

 

The Awe project is a peer-led project that is run by Autistic Women for Autistic Women. 

​

Founded by women who are all "experts by experience", being autistic themselves or have raised an autistic /neurodivergent child. 

 

All our founding members are either autistic themselves or have a family member who is Autistic  All of our team have personal lived experiences.

 

Our team have been working together to break down the stigma and the common misconception that only boys are Autistic. Our overriding aim is to share knowledge and understanding of Autistic females and to develop a database containing links to providers who are specialised in assessment, diagnosis, and provision of support for women on the autistic spectrum.

Due to the Covid Crisis, many of our volunteers have had to focus on their own well-being and caring responsibilities. 

​

We have therefore streamlined our operations and our project will be amalgamated into the work of Autistic UK.
